Artist's Description
I used to see Grange Insurance signs years ago in northern California as a kid, so I was surprised to see this sign in an antique shop in Eagle Point, Oregon.
About Mick Anderson
While in college, Mick had the opportunity to work at St. Mary Lodge at the east entrance to Glacier National Park in Montana. It was in this magical place where he met several fellow students from other parts of the country who would change the direction of his life by introducing Mick to nature, the mountains, the guitar and singing, fly fishing, writing music, hiking, and -- most importantly -- the Single Lens Reflex camera! He had a chance to play with Pentacon, Yashica, Pentax, Nikon and other brands, leading cameras of the day. It opened up a whole new way of looking at the world, and started a hobby that quickly grew into a passion that has stood the test of many years. His first “real” camera was a Yashica “Electro-35”...

Your photos are beautiful by the way. I would be very interested in seeing what else you discover . I googled my sign and your picture is the only thing on the internet I could find, so its very exciting to know I have this special treasure. Thank you for being where you were and capturing it. This was in the antique shop, do you know the name?
Mick Anderson replied:
Yes, it was the Butte Creek Mill. It will be rebuilt, but as of right now I don't know what antiques survived the fire. I do have more in my archives, and I'll probably put more up online in the near future :)

I own this beautiful vintage sign. My father worked for Grange Insurance and this sign has been in the family since I was little. The beautiful picture and enameling is on both sides, the colors are bright yellow, red and green and its very large and quite heavy. It's hanging in my family room and brightens up the whole area. This a the only image on the internet I can find of it.
Mick Anderson replied:
Hi Gretchen. So happy to read your story :) I don't know if this sign exists anymore -- the antique shop and working mill in Eagle Point, Oregon, burned down a few months back. Some items of the many there were saved, but a lot was lost. Hopefully I'll be able to track down what is left within a few months. I'm so glad I was able to share this image with you at this time :))

I use to see them at farm entrances many years ago :)
