Description
This "flare" appeared right after the sun set in the west. I have not seen this before or since. I assume it is caused by a combination of elements, including water and ice, reflections and refractions, along with other causes. In any case, it was unusual and rather spectacular!

Very nice Solar Pillar, Mick. They're quite rare and require very high ice. Nicely captured.

Mick this is such a fantastic capture. I have heard of these flares ... but to have not only seen it but to have captured it is fantastic!!!! Wow and wow!!!! l/f
