Great shot, Mick! Very impressive that it was hand-held, and great framing. Very, very nice photo!

Mick Anderson replied:

Thank you Bruce! I find that the image stabilization within the Sony is the best I've used so far :) Your comments are very appreciated!

Wow!....this is one really great photo of the moon if I ever saw one! I love how the shadow of the moon fades in so sharply, that I can see the whole moon. That is a good lens you have there. A fave for sure!

Mick Anderson replied:

Thank you Deborah! I have found that if I take photos when the sky is still blue, they always seem to come out better. I think it's because the contrast is a bit less :)

It was in this magical place where he met several fellow students from other parts of the country who would change the direction of his life by introducing Mick to nature, the mountains, the guitar and singing, fly fishing, writing music, hiking, and -- most importantly -- the Single Lens Reflex camera! He had a chance to play with Pentacon, Yashica, Pentax, Nikon and other brands, leading cameras of the day. It opened up a whole new way of looking at the world, and started a hobby that quickly grew into a passion that has stood the test of many years. His first “real” camera was a Yashica “Electro-35”...
