While in college, Mick had the opportunity to work at St. Mary Lodge at the east entrance to Glacier National Park in Montana. It was in this magical place where he met several fellow students from other parts of the country who would change the direction of his life by introducing Mick to nature, the mountains, the guitar and singing, fly fishing, writing music, hiking, and -- most importantly -- the Single Lens Reflex camera! He had a chance to play with Pentacon, Yashica, Pentax, Nikon and other brands, leading cameras of the day. It opened up a whole new way of looking at the world, and started a hobby that quickly grew into a passion that has stood the test of many years. His first “real” camera was a Yashica “Electro-35”...

Heidi Smith
I'm admiring this image once again. :) Did you ever get over to FHR?
Mick Anderson replied:
Hi Heidi! You know, I have NOT... and I really need to one day soon. I'm in Medford today and will be stopping by Valley of the Rogue State Park and the new Rogue River bridge, but that's east of GP instead of southwest. Perhaps over the weekend... :) Thanks for the 2nd admire!!
Heidi Smith
Wow! What a beautiful capture! I have such fond memories of this bridge! As a child I loved heading into town knowing we'd be crossing the bridges. Oh, and I think that waterwheel may be on Fish Hatchery Road somewhere between Wilderville and New Hope Road. I'm not sure though. It's been so many years since I've been up there. f/v :)
Mick Anderson replied:
Ok, I added a little bit of color, but not much! I was shooting from the 7th street bridge toward the Caveman Bridge. Thanks for the nice comments! Now I'll have to take a trip on FHR to see if that waterwheel is still there... :)
