Description
The intense blue-gray of this fast moving small storm makes it unique from most clouds that pass over Medford and the Rogue Valley. Without the surrounding mountains, who knows how intense this storm may have become!

Mick, that's a spectacular pic. It captures both the beauty and sketchiness of mammatas clouds. I remember when i was about 20, I was surfing at Bronte in Sydney, Australia and it was a clear day, then this rogue cloud crept over the hill all narrow but tall like a building and it just collapsed like a blanket over the top of us and there were numerous lightning bolts flickering across the ceiling of the clouds. It was scary as you can imagine, sitting out there on a surfboard, but the waves had doubled in size while the winds went straight off shore. It was pumping! Your photo really reminds me A LOT of how quickly that cloud descended upon us. Really cool pic Mick.
Mick Anderson replied:
Hi Sean, and thanks for the story!! These clouds do seem to travel quickly! This particular cloud was gone in just a matter of minutes!! Yet, I've also seen them stick around for hours at other times... unpredictable, at best :)

Hi Mick! I would say that was a "Heavenly cloud" up there. That Sun off to the side sets this up nicely. FAV.
Mick Anderson replied:
Thank you Reynold! Just a few minutes after I took this shot, the definition of the cloud vanished as it swept over the mountain pass to the south :)
